Hydrant flushing-The Utilities Department and Fire Department will be flushing hydrants in the City of Pleasanton beginning Thursday, November 12, 2015. Hydrant flushing will take place Monday through Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. This initial process is expected to take approximately two weeks to flush the entire system. Hydrants will then be flushed frequently as required per TCEQ and as water demand allows.

Flushing allows us to remove rust and sediment from water lines and to perform testing of fire hydrants for public safety. In addition, we are allowed to identify hydrants in need of maintenance. Due to the hydrant flushing, it is possible that some residents will receive rust-colored water, but it is safe to drink. You should check for signs of discoloration prior to washing clothes. If the water is discolored when you turn on your tap, simply run the water until it is clear.

We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. For any questions and up-to-date hydrant flushing information, please call our Public Works office at 830-569-3155 or City Hall at 830-569-3867.
